cool as marble

Tucked underneath The Hilton hotel is Sydney’s iconic Marble Bar. This chic den boasts two vintage oversized mahogany bars, fourteen original Edwardian paintings, elaborate plaster ceiling and a whole lot of marble.

In the month of October, Marble Bar is relaunching with sophisticated food, beverage and entertainment.

The vibe is reminiscent of a speakeasy and the cocktails pay homage to the classics. Think Charlie Chaplin, a balanced blend of Plymouth sloe gin with apricot brandy and freshly squeezed lime juice; Old Fashioned, made popular by Don Draper; and Moscow Mule, a throwback to the 1940’s.

To match the stylish cocktails, the food menu had to raise the proverbial bar. Sample the truffled French fries with parmesan cheese or the mozzarella and parmesan arancini with preserved lemon mayonnaise. For the carb conscious, try the traditional chicken shish kebab or the spicy garlic and tomato prawns.

As Sydney’s premier live music venue, the Marble Bar will be hosting a range of the country’s most talented bands. Check out www.marblebarsydney.com.au for more details.
