Hot Chocolate Season

2 July 2013

Hot chocolate is, to me, an alternative to my caffeine addiction. This heated chocolate beverage typically consists of shaved chocolate, melted chocolate, cocoa powder or all the above. Originally created by the Mayas over 2000 years ago, it’s original version consisted of grounded cocoa seeds mixed with ingredients like cornmeal and chilli peppers.Little known fact about hot chocolate is that until the 19th century, the beverage was used as a remedy to treat stomach diseases.

These days, they are consumed worldwide and come in different variations from the thick Italian hot chocolate to the thinner hot cocoa enjoyed by Americans.

If you like your hot chocolate you don’t have to travel far this winter.  The Lindt Chocolate Café will showcase three, brand new, extra delicious Hot Chocolate recipes – Hazelnut Hot Chocolate, White Hot Chocolate and Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate.

Available for a limited time in store (one per month), each of these exciting new recipes will have chocoholics clamouring to experience the new taste of Lindt as the mercury drops.

Choosing your favourite liquid Lindt creation will be fiendishly difficult – who could resist the rich, nutty flavor of Hazelnut Hot Chocolate on a cold, wintery June day?

Equally impossible to pass up is the smooth, creamy taste of Lindt White Chocolate transformed into a unique hot beverage like no other. Only available during July, the Lindt White Hot Chocolate will make you feel happy and snug from the inside out.
